Weddings

Bright, grand and historic; our beautiful church has hosted the weddings of generations of Wellingtonians. It holds a special place in our community, and we’d love to help you celebrate your special day here

Baptisms

Baptism is based on God’s promise expressed in Jesus Christ and is a visible symbol of God’s love and grace. We baptise publicly acknowledging God’s grace and leading in our lives and in the lives of our children. We use water to baptise; expressing the forgiveness and transformation God gives us, reminding us of cleansing, restoration, and sustenance.

Christenings

The word ‘Christening’ comes from what used to be the naming ceremony (the giving of a Christian name) that was part of the baptism of an infant. The Presbyterian Church, and many other Churches baptises children as well as adults. Just as with the baptism of an adult, a public acknowledgement of God’s grace and leading in our lives is made - but in this instance by the family on behalf of the child. Because of this, baptisms are not restricted by age. If you have been baptised as a child, you can have a confirmation celebration when you reach maturity in your faith.

Funerals

We would love the opportunity to hold a service with you to remember your loved one, and to share the hope we have in God’s grace and power over death.
