Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a Church 24 October 2021

Kia ora St John’s whānau,

What do you call an apology written in dots and dashes?

Re-Morse code.

Why do we forgive? …and how do we do it?

Jesus’ teaching helps us to live this way.

We know that the maximum numbers for gatherings under Alert Level 2 is 100.  So, as well as worshipping at St John’s in the City this Sunday, we also offer a live stream option. Here are the details for joining in worship via Zoom…

ST J’S KIDS AND YOUTH GROUPS START IN THE CENTRE

We are trying a new format for the young people’s peer group times on Sundays…

For the next 4 weeks, young people will start with their peer group time in the St John's Centre from 10:00am. Around 10.45am, their leaders will bring them across to join with the rest of the congregation in worship (like the way we do it on Communion Sundays)

ST JOHN’S AGM

The St John’s Annual General Meeting is on Sunday 31st October.

To enable physical distancing, this will be in the Church.  It will be under 60 minutes and children will be supervised in the St John’s Centre. We hope you can be part of this important meeting.

We will stream it via Zoom, but this is for observers only. For you to participate, we need you to be present.

The Annual Report is available on the St John’s website:

Here is the link to the Agenda, previous Minutes of the 2020 AGM, and the Budget for 2021-2022

CHURCH CAMP TRAMP

We have had to postpone the St Johns in the City’s Church Camp until September 2022.

As an alternative we have morphed ‘camp’ into a ‘tramp’…  On Saturday 6th November at 2pm we’ll be meeting to go for a ~2hr walk. This will be followed by a dinner and some fun activities.

We’d love if you could join in. You’re welcome to come to both the walk and dinner, or just one part.

MENTORING PROGRAMME
Last Sunday, we gave thanks to God as we concluded the first-ever Mentoring Programme. Next year, we are running our second St John's Mentoring Programme.

As part of our St John's inter-generational faith formation, this mentoring programme expresses our Mission Statement very well.

Will you be involved as a Mentor?  Will you be involved as a Mentee?

The start of this Mentoring Programme will be at the beginning of 2022, and we encourage you to register your interest early.

FELLOWSHIP GROUP

George Borthwick will be the surprise speaker for the Fellowship Group meeting in the St John’s Centre on 26 October at 11am, the Tuesday after Labour weekend.
