Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a church - 19 February 2023

Kia ora St John’s whānau,

This week Cyclone Gabrielle put us in a National State of Emergency. We pray for comfort for those who grieve the loss of loved ones, and for the recovery and rebuilding efforts to restore infrastructure and reconnect services. We seek shalom in the God who never leaves us alone.

We recognise being together gives us strength, and (as is our practice of responding to the God of love) we gather for worship on Sunday morning at 10am.

We have age-specific peer groups for youth and families, commencing part-way through the service.

If you can’t gather in the city, and you want to join the worship service via Zoom, here are the details to access the live-stream:

WADESTOWN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Wadestown Presbyterian Church congregation and Presbytery Central have decided that the Church will close in March. This has been a difficult decision but one that ultimately has been agreed upon due to a lack of people resources. As a result the last service that will be held at WPC will be on Sunday 26 March 2023. Before that there will be a celebration of the long and amazing history from the formation of WPC in 1881. To do this there is a weekend of events on 11 and 12 March that you might like to participate in – this is one way we can show our love and care for these folk.
On Saturday catch up with others, photos and memorabilia, decade group photos, evening drinks and dinner (with quiz). On Sunday there is a lunch, followed by a Celebration service starting at 1:30pm lead by Revs Allister Lane and Chris Purdie.
We may have visitors from Wadestown coming to St John’s in the City, and I invite you to make them most welcome with us.

The Peace of Christ be with you
Allister
