Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a Church 10 October 2021

Kia ora St John’s whanau

Once again, we are back in the city this Sunday!

We know that the maximum numbers for gatherings under Alert Level 2 is 100.  So, as well as worshipping at St John’s in the City this Sunday, we also offer a live stream option (see access details below).

We are in the middle of the school holidays, and so the youth group will stay in the whole service and St J’s Kids have a fun holiday programme (and then joining us for Communion in the second part of the worship service)

If you choose not to come to the city, here are the details for joining in worship via Zoom…

Zoom Meeting ID: 370 260 759

Please be aware we are celebrating Communion. So, if you are at home, please have the elements of bread and wine/juice ready.

CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Our Whanau Friendly Review has been completed. We are very pleased to share with you that the overwhelming feedback about what we do in our congregation for children and families has been viewed very positively and, most importantly, the children themselves are very positive about their experience at church. So for that we thank God and all those who serve in this area as an expression of growing our faith. Our church continues to be an adventurous place in which kids can come to know and experience Christian life. If you wish to read the Whanau Friendly Review report, please click here.

It is a time of knowing and unknown… we know we want to implement the action points of the Review with our commitment to journeying in faith with young people. And we need to be open to God’s guidance or the way forward with the opportunities we have to contribute to the ministry we have with young people.

As an intergenerational church, we are ALL involved in this ministry. And so I invite you to a congregational PRAYER MEETING after the Church service this Sunday 10th October – we will pray together for God to strengthen and guide our ministry with young people.

MENTORING PROGRAMME

You will have received an email earlier this week about a second St John's Mentoring Programme (2021-2022)

As part of our St John's inter-generational faith formation, this mentoring programme expresses our Mission Statement very well.

Will you be involved as a Mentor?  Will you be involved as a Mentee?

ST JOHN’S AGM

Please make a note in your diary and plan to join in the St John’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday 31st October in the St John’s Centre.
After the worship service we will have a shared lunch and then start the AGM. Please bring some finger food to share. The Annual Report will be available soon.

CHURCH CAMP

Our Church Camp is 5 – 7 November. Please come with us, as we seek to Journey Together and grow our faith so we can live and share Christ's hope for our world.
This weekend will be even more important for us to reconnect, so please register for the Church Camp now (The Camp will go ahead if we are at Alert Level 1. If COVID restrictions get in the way of the Church Camp, you will get a full refund).
