Our vision is to make St John's youth group an on fire for God youth group that reaches out to the community and their peers.  They will have awesome times together and grow their group through relationship building.

Junior Youth Group

6.30 - 8.30 pm Friday during terms @ Spinks we have our own day!) $2.00 cost per night.

This group covers years 7 and 8.

Senior Youth Group

Senior Youth Group is for Year 9 and upwards.

Most Friday nights during term time from 6.30 - 8.30 pm there will be a programme of exciting activities.  You can get more information about the events closer to each week via mail or phone.  Just to complicate matters, we have things on on other nights too. $2 cost per night.

Sundays!

The Youth Group meets on Sunday, 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St John's during terms time.  Usually, some of the time is spent in Church as part of morning worship.

Who are we?

We are a group of young people between the ages of 11 and 17 who are interested in knowing more about Jesus Christ, God and the Bible.

Where do we meet?

We meet in our own Youth Group Rooms at St John's in the City, based in Spinks Cottage.  It has a pool table as well as lounges used for studies and socialising and we sometimes hang out there after school to do our homework or to use it as a social meeting place.

What do we do?

We enjoy hanging out on Sunday mornings between 10:00 and 11:00 am when we do stuff like:

* talking about our understanding of the Bible and our faith;
* taking part in art activities and drama;

Ryhan (Raz) Prasad leads the Senior Youth Group Sunday morning studies for year 11 and up.  He is shown with his wife Ani here.   He has a large team working with him, including those listed below.  Ryhan is an elder at St John's.

Andrew Johnston (AJ) and Alice Potts - Lead Senior Youth Group Year 9 and 10 Sunday Programme

Margaret Galt leads the Sunday morning programme for Years 7-8 with Mark Edgecumbe. 

ANZ leads the Friday night Junior social programme and and youth worship band.

What about weekends away?

Yes - we do those sometimes and do sleepovers in Wellington too.

What other events are there?

Every year, including in January 2008, we get a group of about 30 people together and travel to the Parachute Festival Extreme in Mystery Creek near Hamilton.  For details, contact Ryhan on the phone number above, or email on the Youth Group link above.

Do I need to be a member of St John's or even a Christian to come along to Youth Group?

Nope! You can come and check us and God out and learn stuff at your own pace.  See how the Christian faith might be helpful to you in your life and how it has made a difference for other young people your age.

Whatever you do....Walk towards our Youth Group Room and come and meet the group! Come to our youth outings. Come to our youth services. You are always welcome.
