work.
St J's Kids runs during
school term times through the year. It normally starts on
the first Sunday after school resumes and stops from the first Sunday
after school stops.
Children
should come to the 10 am service and after meeting during church
will proceed to Sunday School.
"We
think Sunday School is important because it gives our children a
chance to learn about the Christian faith and it supports our Family."
The
theme for 2008 is based on the concept of “Going on a Bushwalk”
aligning this with our journey of learning about living in God’s
way at St J’s Kids throughout 2008.

WHY
GO TO SUNDAY SCHOOL/ St J's KIDS?
Sunday School is all about providing a Christian Education programme
that is exciting and meaningful, which develops the children's sense
of belonging to God and to the St John's in the City family.
We also want children to feel comfortable enough to bring along
their friends.
Parents' comments
"The St. John's Sunday School is an excellent service for our children,
which they enjoy very much. In several small classes the children
have fun activities and receive some spiritual guidance. For
us it has the added benefit that we can enjoy the main service without
having to constantly be conscious of whether the kids are disturbing
any other churchgoers."
Our
Sunday School members come from a range of suburbs in and around
Wellington. Many of them are children of families that regularly
attend St John's in the City. However, all children are very welcome!
Every
term, during the school year, Sunday School is held upstairs in
the Conference Centre. The children normally go into the main church
at the beginning of the 10:00 am service and leave as a group after
the children's time in the service.
Teachers
and children then meet collectively as a group and share a song,
prayer and collection before breaking off into smaller groups for
classes.
Here
are the objectives that have been set for each age group.
After
Sunday School is finished at around 11:00, there is time for the
children to let off some energy in the gym and play games.
St
John's in the City is very lucky in having a dedicated team of Sunday
School teachers. St John's Sunday School Co-Ordinator is Anna
Davis.
We look forward to welcoming your children to Sunday School at St
John's in the City.

The
Importance of Children...
Mark
10 13-14
"People were bringing little children to Jesus. They wanted him
to touch them. But the disciples told the people to stop. When
Jesus saw this, he was angry. He said to his disciples, "let the
little children come to me. Don't keep them away. God's kingdom
belongs to people like them."
Matt
18 1-9
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus. They asked him,
"Who is the most important person in the kingdom of heaven?" Jesus
called a little child over to him. He had the child stand among
them. Jesus said, "What I am about to tell you is true. You need
to change and become like little children. If you don't, you'll
never enter the kingdom of heaven. Anyone one who becomes free
of pride, as this child, is the most important in the Kingdom of
Heaven."
Psalm
127:3
"Children are a gift from the Lord.
They are a reward from him."
