Here is some info on The Boys’ Brigade, 2nd Wellington Company, an exciting organisation for boys aged 6 to 18 years old.

The Boys’ Brigade programme channels natural energy and enthusiasm into interesting, challenging and adventurous activities.

Here at 2nd Wellington we have a programme of physical, social, adventurous, and community activities. We encourage Christian values and self-respect, and we hope to provide a programme through which you will develop strength of character which stay with you for life.

Boys and leaders come from as far afield as Strathmore, Brooklyn, Lyall Bay and Porirua and as close as Aro Valley.

Meeting Times and Activities

Company Section (ages 12-18, or years 7-13)
Meets Monday 6 - 8.30 pm

A ctivities have included Expeditions, Learning to play drums, Drill, First Aid, Drama and filming, building a Soccer Table and even an evening at Laser force. Sports activities included basketball, indoor cricket, American Football (sometime) and several games that our creative department invented.

In 2007 we completed building a Foosball table, and had a camp on a farm near Tolaga Bay, and visited Tokomaru Bay for a few days.
We also have good contacts with the BB from Tawa, we have joint activities planned for this year.

Team Sections (ages 8-11 or years 4-7)
Meets Thursday 6 - 7.45pm

There has been a badge work programme covering a lot of different subjects. Cooking and sandwich making have been popular. Pizza and Games night with a prize for the ‘snazziest’ dressed were lots of fun.

We sometimes interact with other BB groups, for example, in a Dodgeball competition. Complete with castles and team shields.

Anchor Boys (6-8 or year 2-4)
Meets Thursday 6 - 7.30 pm

They meet with the Team section for fun, singing and crafts but go home a little earlier.
