Youth

The St John’s Youth Ministry encourages an inclusive, inner-city community of young people, within the wider St John’s in the City community, which supports teaching and development in faith, friendship, and fun.

We have two programmes:

  • EPIC – for young people in Years 7-9
  • Thrive – for young people in Years 10-13

What do we do?

On Tuesday evenings our Year 11, 12, 13 home group meets between 5:30-7:30 pm, where we discuss some of the more tricky issues about our faith, and ask some tough questions that we are all struggling with.

On Friday evenings we meet from 6:30-8:30pm and come together in fellowship with one another. This time is spent having heaps of fun and building those awesome relationships with one another! We finish our time together with a brief faith-based thought that is tied into the focus of the Sunday morning session.

On Saturday mornings the Thrive Worship Band meets in the church for our weekly practice. We practice songs in preparation for special services (All-Ages Worship, Regional Youth Service, Evening Service) that are coming up. We’re also currently in the process of writing our own material!!

On Sunday mornings we offer age-specific sessions, where we discuss matters of faith that are aimed more at speaking into the lives of our young people.

What’s in our region?

We acknowledge that we are called to live life in communion with others, and that this extends to our wider Church community. We are lucky to be part of an awesome Presbyterian community in the Wellington Region, and we celebrate this as often as possible!

  • Combined evenings with other greater Wellington youth groups
  • The annual Presbytery Central Easter Camp
  • The annual Presbytery Central Film Festival
  • Wellington Regional Youth Services
  • Sports tournaments

…and so much more…
