St John’s has a number of different groups for all ages and stages.  There’s sure to be one here for you!

Study & House Groups

These are small groups who meet regularly for fellowship, study, and fun.  They are often held in someone’s home or can be at the St John’s Centre.  Find out which group(s) might be best for you.

Fellowship Group

Meetings are normally held in the St John’s Centre on the 4th Tuesday of each month, but occasionally this may change, so please check details if coming for the first time.  Membership is open to everyone in the congregation

We start at 11.00 am with a brief Business meeting, followed by a guest speaker. We then have a shared lunch where we can get to know each other more informally.

Full details of meetings and the guest speaker can be found in the weekly church Bulletin, or by contacting Mary Gibbs or the church office.

St John’s in the City Presbyterian Church Indonesian Group

St John’s in the City is proud to embrace its multicultural and cross-cultural identity.  Here our Indonesian Community is an established part of the colourful picture of our Church family.  We interact, exchange ideas, celebrate and worship God together in the unity of Jesus Christ.

If you are interested to join the Indonesian Community for a service in our first language, meet other Indonesian families and pray for each other, then please come along to our monthly service – we usually meet on the second Sunday of the month at 12.30 pm.

Contact Ino or 04-385 1546 for dates of the services or for more information.

Komunitas Indonesia di Gereja Presbiterian St John’s in the City

St John’s in the City bangga untuk merangkul identitas multikultural dan lintas budaya.

Singing & Music Groups

St John’s has a couple of choirs – one for kids aged 3-about 12, and an adult choir.  They perform regularly during services. We also have a band who play during various services.  If you’re interested in any of these, we’d love to talk to you about it.  Find out more about our music groups.

Music & Movement

This group is held on Thursdays during term time from 10.00-11.00 am(ish) and is for babies, pre-schoolers and their parents/caregivers. We sing, dance, play percussion instruments, listen and learn colours and counting.  Parking is available on the church grounds (currently not available until further notice) and we ask for a gold coin donation to help us provide morning tea.  To find out more, email Church Office or 385 1546.

Stitching Group

The Stitching group knits, embroiders, quilts, appliques, crochets and does all sorts of other things that involve needles. Some tuition is available with tea and coffee also served. It meets every second Monday from 9.45-11.45 am in the Fellowship Room in the St John’s Centre. Contact Lesley Shaw to find out more or to confirm when the next stitching and chat session will be held.
