The St John’s Centre has two levels and a variety of rooms to suit most needs. When you hire a room, you also get access to the kitchen and courtyard areas (currently the courtyard areas are not available until further notice). Data projector, PA systems and whiteboards are also available for hire, and we have WiFi throughout the Centre. Find out more here.

Our largest room, the Hall is ideal conferences up to 120 people, training seminars, public forums, and wedding receptions. Situated on the ground floor, it is wheelchair-accessible. Common access to the kitchen and foyer make serving and clean-up a breeze. For larger meetings such as your company’s Annual General Meeting or a local book launch, a sound system and data projector can be hired.
MacKenzie is a popular room for medium-size professional workshops and community group gatherings. It comfortably seats 25 people around tables or 40 in rows. Just next to the kitchen, the serving window is handy for passing refreshments through.
Smaller than MacKenzie, it is also sought after for hosting community groups and business meetings. Delightful afternoon sun streams into the windows of the Fellowship room. Located on the ground floor on the other side of the kitchen (and across from the Hall), it offers shared access to the kitchen with a serving window. Seats up to 25 in theatre style or 12-14 in boardroom.
Our most popular upstairs rooms are in big demand by local community groups, often meeting over lunch or for a few hours. Quiet and secluded, they are also used by graduate students for classes or exams. Dick room can be hired separately or the two rooms together by opening the sliding door to provide more space for breakout sessions or morning and afternoon tea. These well-lit rooms face out on the courtyard. A small kitchenette is available upstairs for your use. Up to 30 people can fit in theatre style in both rooms with the sliding door open or 14-16 around tables. Dick room alone seats 30 in theatre style and the same 14-16 in boardroom style.
Also sought after by local groups, Brodie is ideal for small groups. The upstairs offers a quiet space to be away from the hustle of downtown. On the south side, this room overlooks Willis Street. Twenty will fit in theatre style or 12 in boardroom style.
Another good space for small local groups to meet, this room is ideal for up to 15 people in theatre style or six to eight in boardroom.
The gym is ideal for recreational and exercise activities. It is spacious and has a pleasant feel with a high ceiling and skylights. The wood floor was recently refurbished so no street shoes are allowed.
