Free parking is available by arrangement for those with particular needs. Please contact the Church Office on 385 1546.
Underground parking is available for parishioners to use during services. These are primarily for the elderly and infirm or those with small children. Please note that parking spaces 4, 5, 9 and 10 are to be kept free at all times, including Sundays. The organist’s carpark, no 16, is solely for the use the organist at all times. The garage is open 30 minutes before the service and will be closed 30 minutes after the service has finished. Please note that a security swipe card will be needed to enter the garage outside of these times.
Parking in the church grounds is also available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Please do not double-park in the area alongside the church, parallel to Willis St , as this area enables pedestrian access to the church doors for those with mobility problems who cannot manage the stairs to the courtyard to gain access by that route.
The parking building in Willis Street, just down from the Mercure Wellington Abel Tasman Hotel is open on Sundays from 9.00 am. This is a convenient location for St John’s.
Previously we were able to use some of the carparks at DB House, 119-125 Ghuznee St. However, this building has now been sold, and after discussion with the new owner and the tenants, the parks used by St John’s on a Sunday are no longer available. Unfortunately, St John’s is not able to guarantee that the new tenants of the building will not have cars towed so if you have used these parks in the past please make other arrangements.
Car Parking During The Week During the week, our very limited car parking is allocated on a daily basis, through the Church Office, by issue of a parking permit only. Priority is first to on-site meeting organisers, people with disabilities and contractors working on site. Thursday mornings during term time the carparks are dedicated wholly to the St John’s Preschool Music and Movement Programme. Everyone wishing to park on the site is asked to call or visit the office first. If available, a carpark number will be allocated and a parking permit available at the office for display on your dashboard.
