When you hire a room, you also get access to the kitchen and courtyard areas. Some audio-visual equipment is also available for hire, and we have FREE Ultra Fast Broadband WiFi access. Limited parking is available on the grounds on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The main floor is accessible for people with special needs. The entry to the Centre is flat and wide enough for a person in a wheelchair. There is one toilet on the ground floor accessible through the main Hall. Unfortunately, we do not have a lift to the second floor.
Groups have shared access to the kitchen for preparing morning and afternoon tea, and heating and serving pre-pared food. A small kitchenette is available for use upstairs.
Many groups find it easier to get their event catered and we can recommend local caterers who are familiar with our facilities, if need be. Just ask the Church Office when booking.
An assortment of crockery and cutlery is available at no extra charge. We have plenty of tea cups, a few tea pots and French presses for coffee. Water jugs and glasses are also available for your use. If you have other requirements, please check with the Church Office.
You will need to provide your own tea, coffee, milk and sugar etc.
As St John’s Centre is not run along commercial lines, we do ask you tidy up before leaving and do your own dishes, and a steriliser is provided for this purpose. There will be an additional charge of a minimum of $50 if we have to clean up for your group at the end of the day.
On a beautiful Wellington day, the courtyard is the place to be to soak up the sun on your tea and lunch breaks. It’s often during the informal chats that the real work gets done. The atmosphere here is what sets St John’s Centre apart from other venues in the city. You may even forget you are in the middle of the capital’s CBD!
We offer the following equipment for hire. Let us know when you make your booking if you would like to use any of these.
Wifi is available throughout the St John’s Centre. Access is free for those hiring rooms and the access code will be given on the day of the hire. For continued access, participants are requested to follow a fair use policy.
Limited parks are available on the Church grounds, with priority given to people with disabilities and meeting organisers. Parks are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. See the Church Office for availability and to register your car on the day of your hire. The parking building on Willis Street (just past the Mercure Wellington Abel Tasman Hotel) is also rather convenient.
